‘Hundreds of Beavers’ is a Cinematic Masterpiece the World Needs to See

A movie recently released in select theaters after making its rounds at film festivals that is so downright entertaining and bizarrely captivating that the world needs to see it. That movie is none other than Hundreds of Beavers.

Hundreds of Beavers is an action-comedy movie that follows a drunken applejack maker who becomes North America’s best fur trapper, and a hero on top of that, by defeating hundreds of beavers. It may seem like a simple or even weird premise, but that just makes it unique and easy to follow as it takes you on one of the greatest film journeys of the past few years.

This movie is absolutely bonkers in the best of ways. For starters, the first thing that is immediately noticeable about the film is its ridiculous quality. Beavers, rabbits, dogs, and other animals are all human actors in extraordinarily cheap-looking animal costumes. A lot of the props look just as silly or cheaply made. It’s all done in black and white. The actors are all hamming it up.

In addition, just about everything happening is just plain absurd. Every scenario that the protagonist, Jean Kayak, finds himself in, whether it be sneaking into a wolf’s den or flinging himself through the air with one of his own traps, is over the top. The traps that Jean Kayak sets for his prey progressively become more and more ludacris as the story plays out. It’s easily one of the wackiest movies ever made.

Not only is the movie silly or bizarre, but it’s also legitimately great. The slapstick used throughout is extremely hilarious and shockingly creative. It feels like a live-action Looney Tunes. The way it plays with physics and the audience’s expectations of how they should work leads to plenty of big laughs.

The movie fully embraces its low budget and turns it into charm and part of the joke. In fact, the cheap costumes, props, and effects are brilliantly used in their favor to make some creative moments happen. Everyone in the film clearly had a blast with it, so it’s hard not to have fun yourself when watching it.

The story that occurs during all this slapstick and ridiculousness is actually rather captivating. It’s hard not to find oneself fighting for Jean Kayak to succeed. There are even a fair share of gasp-worthy moments.

The movie escalates so much that you’ll never know what’s coming next. It’s impossible to look away when you feel the need to know what happens next and how the previous segment could be topped.

Because of all this, Hundreds of Beavers is something that demands to be seen. It’s highly recommended to see this instant cult classic on the big screen with a large crowd to get the full experience.
