‘Twisted Metal’: Who Could Quiet Really Be?

The Twisted Metal TV series proved to be a surprise hit. It’s funny, action-packed, shockingly heartfelt, and is full of references for eagle-eyed fans of the video games to catch. One of the most fascinating elements of the series, though, is Stephanie Beatriz’s character, Quiet. Throughout the first season, Quiet’s true name is kept secret from both other characters and the audience. Plus, not only is she one of the main characters, but she’s also built up to be someone important that the fans of the games would be excited to see. There are quite a few possibilities as to who Quiet could really be, so let’s discuss some of the most prominent options.

Outlaw 2

Throughout the first season, Quiet has a major rivalry with Agent Stone, a.k.a. Outlaw. Agent Stone brands the symbol of a police badge into the side of her shoulder, mirroring a permanent uniform on her. She’s even seen driving a cop car a couple of times. In the games, Outlaw 2’s brother is a big part of her backstory. This is the same for Quiet in the TV series. The main detail that indicates that she probably isn’t Outlaw 2, despite it being one of the most obvious choices, is that Jamie Roberts, the driver of Outlaw 2, is already in the series. She’s unfortunately just a cop who works under Agent Stone.

Shadow

When we’re introduced to Quiet, as well as during a flashback scene, we see her driving a purple hearse. This hearse is known as Shadow and has been a staple of the Twisted Metal games for a long time. This could pinpoint on Quiet being Shadow’s driver. However, Raven, the driver of Shadow in the games, is already in the show and plays a particularly major role. We have yet to see her behind the wheel of her iconic hearse, but it probably means that Quiet and Shadow are not one in the same.

Thumper

Another possibility is Angel, a.k.a. the driver of Thumper in Twisted Metal: Head-On. She’s a badass who looked up to her siblings and cousins, and was the first woman to drive the iconic vehicle in the games. While we only know about Quiet’s brother, this could be a close-enough match. Her brother calls her “Little Bunny,” which could lead to a reference to the bunny in Disney’s Bambi, but it’s a bit of a stretch. Another clue for this possibility is that Angel loved loud music and even used her one wish from Calypso to get loud speakers, which would be a fun contrast for her nickname.

Krista Sparks/Grasshopper

With how important of a character Quiet is, many have been speculating that she could be Krista Sparks. In the games, Krista Sparks is the driver of Grasshopper. The nickname “Little Bunny” could be a hint about hopping, but who knows? She’s also the daughter of Calypso. With how vital Quiet has been to the story, this twist would mean big things for the show. With Krista wanting to use her one wish to make Calypso stop the Twisted Metal tournament, it only makes sense for her to be used as one of the main characters.

That being said, Krista Sparks served as Dollface in the 2012 Twisted Metal game, and Dollface shows up at the end of the TV show’s first season. This either means that this live action Dollface isn’t Krista Sparks, or that Quiet and Dollface will be used as a strategic team-up by these TV writers who did their homework. Either way, Quiet being the daughter of Calypso would completely shake up the series and make for some good drama.

An Original Character

There is always the strong possibility that Quiet is just an original character made for the TV series. The folks behind the show could have wanted to create a character so cool that Sony would want to include her in any future Twisted Metal video games. Her weapons of choice are axes with “shhh” engraved on the handles, which doesn’t match anything in the source material. Plus, there’s evidence going against most of the other probable choices. That being said, with the secrecy around her real name and the build-up of discovering who she truly is, she’s likely an important character from the games. Hopefully the question is answered soon.
