Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 served as a perfect send off to the beloved MCU team. That being said, it did leave the door open for these characters to return if Disney and Marvel Studios wished. There’s plenty of room for follow-ups featuring the Guardians in future projects. Here are some potential movies or series that could have the Guardians return without undoing anything that happened in the latest film.
Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are ahead.
Rocket’s Guardians of the Galaxy
Rocket Raccoon is the new leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. In a post-credits scene, it’s revealed that his team consists of Groot (who is now humongous), Kraglin, Cosmo, and Phyla-vell. We see them preparing to protect some innocents from being overtaken, so they’re still living that hero life. Seeing more adventures for them, whether it be a Disney+ series or a movie, could be a blast. Seeing this particular group of characters play off of each other would be an experience unique from what we’ve already seen in Guardians of the Galaxy and would be undoubtedly fun.
Nebula and Drax Running Knowhere
Nebula is now running Knowhere and keeping the little society there together. Drax, the galaxy’s greatest dad, is there to help with the hordes of children that live there now. A sitcom style series with a dynamic like theirs would be a true joy. They’re living in a giant head floating through space. All kinds of wacky situations can occur. Having Nebula and Drax be the ones to always pick up the pieces is a hilarious and interesting idea.

Mantis’ Journey
Mantis went off to travel the galaxy with a pair of Abilisks. She’s off to live her life without someone else telling her what to do. She wants to find what she actually wants to do. This opens the door for both an exciting intergalactic tale and interesting personal growth. Who knows where her and her new companions will end up?
Gamora and the Ravagers
The Gamora from the past timeline ended up living and working with the Ravagers. The Ravagers are a group of criminals who specialize in thievery and piracy. This could be used as the foundation for many thrilling adventures for Gamora and her new allies. She and this team of colorful characters could be insanely entertaining to watch together as they risk their lives to make some cash.
Star-Lord Protecting Earth
The last time we saw Peter Quill, a.k.a Star-Lord, he went to Earth to see his grandfather. Now that he’s on Earth, if something were to happen to put the planet in danger (and let’s face it, something will), he can’t stand idly by. He’d be sure to gear up and rush into battle to save people. Perhaps he’d even fight alongside the Avengers in their next outing. As the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 post-credits pointed out, we haven’t seen the last of Star-Lord.

Howard the Duck
Howard the Duck has had a cameo in each of the Guardians of the Galaxy films (and Avenger Endgame). He’s even voiced by the hilarious Seth Green. It’s time to give him the time in the spotlight that he deserves. With plenty of his own comics and a cult classic movie from the 80s, there’s plenty of material to adapt to give him his own adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
