Superman and Spider-Man are undoubtedly two of the biggest comic book superheroes of all time. They’re essentially the faces of their respective publishers, DC and Marvel Comics. That’s why a team-up of the two is a comic reader’s dream come true.
Both Spider-Man/Superman #1 and Superman/Spider-Man #1 that were released in 2026 told a multitude of fantastic stories. See how each story in this epic crossover event rank when compared to each other below.
17) Jimmy Olsen & Carnage: Jimmy Con Carnage
This one was honestly a disappointing read. It could have and should have been a fun, ridiculous romp, but it’s just Jimmy Olsen dying and it being presented as “funny.” Peter Parker is uncharacteristically rude and dismissive. Dark humor is often a lot of fun, but a few pages of a beloved character showing up in Metropolis to literally get disemboweled isn’t that entertaining. Maybe if Jimmy was forced to work with Carnage, or have the symbiote attach to him, then there would be something here.
16) Spider-Man Noir & Superman: Metropolis Marvels
“Metropolis Marvels” is a pretty cool idea. Classic, old-school Superman has a run-in with Spider-Man Noir. There’s some entertaining action and the story touches on what the right way is to dish out justice. That being said, it’s really quick, and this is an idea that could use more time. As a result, it ends up feeling forgettable compared to the rest of the list.
15) Spider-Man & Superman: One of Those Days
This is a simple-yet-touching story that has Superman reminding Spider-Man the true meaning of being a hero. It’s heartfelt and inspirational. However, it’s only a couple of pages long, and more in-depth stories in this crossover accomplish the same thing.
14) Gwen Stacy & Lana Lang: Sweethearts
This story is mostly just a fun conversation between the two iconic “side love interest” characters. It serves as an interesting dive into how these characters and the world around them see the titans that are Spider-Man and Superman. Plus, it gives readers a glimpse of Superman and Spider-Man taking on each other’s enemies, which is really fun. This one isn’t anything mindblowing by any means, but it’s cute and interesting.
13) Jonathan Kent & Ben Parker: The Bridge
This is another very touching story. Peter and Clark discuss the men who raised them and how those upbringings made them who they are today. All the while, the reader sees a time when Pa Kent and Uncle Ben briefly met and proved how good-hearted they were. It’s a quick story, but a brilliant one.
12) Symbiotes in Metropolis: The Wondrous & The Worthy
Wonder Woman and Jane Foster Thor make an incredible team, and it’s cool to see them beating up symbiotes together. What really makes this one shine is how Diana talks to and respects Jane. She knows she’s just as worthy as the original Thor, if not more so. It also has an incredible “screw you, Cancer” theme that’s honestly really inspiring. It does say that Batman wouldn’t consider Jane the true Thor, and I don’t think that’s the case at all. It’s weird for them to assume that.
11) Ghost-Spider & Supergirl: Remarkable
These are two characters who go perfectly together. Their dialogue is witty, and it’s a great showcase of their respective characters. The villain Livewire gets some attention here, which is always welcome. The action with the two heroines battling the electrified baddie is a lot of fun. It ends with Gwen and Kara agreeing they enjoyed working together, which makes me wish this somehow became a full series. But alas, it’s just a quirky short story.
10) Lois Lane & Mary Jane: The World’s Finest
Superman and Spider-Man team up to take on a Sentinel, and Gambit shows up to save the day. It’s awesome. However, for better or worse, it’s all from the point of view of Lois Lane and Mary Jane. They have a fun conversation about everything they both go through as the love interests of heroes who are always putting themselves in danger. It also showcases the importance of the two of them. It’s witty and action-packed, but also feels like it’s taking on a lot to focus on for such a quick story.
9) Miles Morales Spider-Man & Superman: The One Thing
Not only is it nice to see Miles Morales get some love during this crossover event, but it’s also an entertaining and heartfelt tale. This is what crossover character interactions are meant for. The conversation between Superman and Spider-Man is intriguing, and the advice Supes gives to the young hero is fantastic. It’s a nice story about what it means to truly fight for the greater good. What’s a bummer, though, is that it ends right before they go off to fight the villain.
8) Power Girl and The Punisher: Blind Date
This one is hilarious and has great action. The setup of the situation, the ridiculousness of how it all plays out, and the hilarity of the ending are all amazing to experience. There’s something about the Punisher holding a pink umbrella with hearts on it that just feels right. This story is so much fun that it honestly should rank higher on the list, but there’s something I enjoyed a little bit more about the others. Plus, this one features… Paul Rabin. Ugh.
7) Daily Planet & Daily Bugle: Bias
The Daily Planet and the Daily Bugle and their respective ideologies getting this kind of spotlight is truly fascinating. Their dialogue, mediated by Jack Ryder, is both interesting and heated. Lois Lane calling out J. Jonah Jameson feels earned, and hearing Jameson’s side is actually quite interesting, even if I disagree with him. It’s overall a fantastic philosophical debate that even dives into why we all love comic book superheroes.
6) Hobgoblin vs. Steel: Ghosting
Steel teams up with Thor in this story, which is something I’ve been dying to see. The Steel vs. Hobgoblin battle is simply extraordinary. Steel’s new invention coming into play is a nice way to shake things up. Best of all, this one feels like a complete story, where many of the others in these books end right as the story is getting started.
5) Superboy-Prime & The Amazing Spider-Man: Pages
“Pages” is an exciting, meta adventure that explores the morality of the characters. It’s also one of the few stories that features a full development arc (for Superboy-Prime). It feels like a big story taking place in just a few pages, with an epic battle against the High Evolutionary. These are also two characters who are fun to put together. The way they butt heads initially is entertaining, and they can have a really unique story together.
4) Superboy & Spider-Man 2099: Beyond the Cobwebs of Tomorrow
A Batman Beyond story in my Superman/Spider-Man crossover? Yes please! An intriguing mystery is afoot, and the action is a lot of fun. Seeing this quick rivalry play out is exciting, and them teaming up is a comic book fan’s dream. I want this to be a full series, I need to know what happens next. This futuristic story is one that needs to be told.
3) Mysterio vs. Superman: Identity War
This story is much more about the Thing than it is about Mysterio or Superman, but it’s still fantastic. It’s a solid story about the proper way to deal with anger and other negative feelings. Seeing Superman talking down the Hulk to calm him down rather than fighting him is brilliant. Plus, there are a lot of heroes, villains, and overall action present here.
2) Spider-Man & Superman: Our Kryptonite
Spider-Man and Superman teaming up to battle a slew of their rogues? Sign me up. It’s pure comic book epicness. Both of their strengths, with superpowers and their more internal strengths, are on full display. Plus, there’s a Venomized Superman, which is just plain awesome. The Lex Luthor/Norman Osborn team-up is also spectacular.
1) Superman & Spider-Man: Truth Justice and Great Responsibility
Superman and Spider-Man team up to fight against Doctor Octopus and Brainiac, and it’s absolutely epic. The scale is literally out of this world, and it takes both heroes working to their fullest to save the world. Some of their best scenes together are when they’re just Clark Kent and Peter Parker, when they’re talking. They go together perfectly. It’s suspenseful, captures the essence of both characters perfectly, and is an overall fantastic story.
