The Looney Tunes have a rich history in entertainment on both the big and small screens. They’re pop culture icons, to say the least. This makes it especially exciting that a new Looney Tunes movie, titled Coyote vs. Acme, is heading to theaters later this year. This new film, which follows Wile E. Coyote as he attempts to sue the Acme corporation for all of his infamous failed attempts at catching the Road Runner, has created a lot of online buzz.
The flick is being looked at as a particularly big deal by fans and Hollywood creatives alike. There are tons of folks rallying behind this new movie starring some of the great characters in animation. Let’s explore why that is.
First of all, Coyote vs. Acme was originally supposed to come out in 2023. It had fans excited, as any big screen outing for the Looney Tunes would be. However, it was shelved by Warner Bros. as a tax write-off even though it had finished production. This meant that, even though the movie was ready for audiences’ eyes, it would never see the light of day so the company would save a few bucks. This also meant that the hard work from all the artists and creatives who worked on the movie would have been for nothing, and audiences would miss out on the chance to see their favorite characters at the theater.
Thankfully, however, a smaller company known as Ketchup Entertainment saved the film from being scrapped altogether by purchasing the rights to it from Warner Bros. They did the same thing with The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie in 2025. Thanks to them, fans have been able to see a 2D animated movie on the big screen with iconic characters, and now they’re doing it again with an animation-live action hybrid film. They’re preserving art.

By having the movie actually released in theaters and if audiences show up to see it, it shows a big corporation what audiences actually want to see and that audiences care about art actually seeing the light of day. Artists’ work will be showcased instead of a big company getting yet another tax cut.
Art is important. It’s certainly worth more than a billion dollar company saving on their taxes. It’s especially nice to see real art being released in a world with the looming threat of AI replacing it.
It’s also quite the hilarious coincidence that it happens to be a movie about sticking it to the man and taking on a corrupt company. It’s essentially what’s happening by the movie being released by a smaller company in favor of the fans.
Also, it’s the Looney Tunes! Of course people are going to celebrate them coming to a theatrically-released movie. It looks to be a movie that will celebrate the characters and what fans love about the franchise, which is even more exciting.
There are tons of fans online who have been championing the release of Coyote vs. Acme in theaters. Let’s hope as many people and more show up when it hits the big screen, because this is just as big of a deal as people have been making it out to be.
