As much fun as it is diving into a thought-provoking strategy game or letting your heart race for something especially competitive, there’s always room for goofy or laid back party games. When you get a large group together, tabletop party games can lead to some wildly entertaining times.
Check out the list of some of the most fun tabletop party games below, in no particular order. Keep in mind, I haven’t played every party game out there, so sound off in the comments with some of your recommendations.
Pitchstorm

Pitchstorm puts players in the role of unprepared movie writers who must pitch some of the most ridiculous stories possible to the world’s worst executives. The deck of cards sets the movie up, and players add cards of their own for maximum shenanigans, putting you on the spot to put it all together within the time limit to hopefully make a successful pitch. Use your imagination and prepared to get silly.
Cards Against Humanity

I know, I know. Cards Against Humanity is tired at this point. It’s everywhere and often feels like the only game casual groups ever want to play. That being said, it’s widely known for a reason. It’s genuinely hilarious and it’s easily approachable. There are seemingly endless expansions with additional cards, which does keep the jokes feeling fresh. It’s definitely overplayed, but it’s a solid go-to.
Wavelength

Wavelength is a unique social guessing game that has two teams of players attempt to read their teammates’ minds. One team member is given a card with a spectrum on it, like “Hard to Soft” or “Impressive Superhero to Pathetic Superhero” and must come up with an answer that matches a certain spot on that spectrum. Then their team needs to guess what they’d consider worthy of that placement on the spectrum. This one leads to a lot of laugh-out-loud conversations and answers while also featuring some surprising strategy.
Codenames

Codenames is one of the most suspenseful party games out there. Separate your group into two teams, with one giving clues to the rest to help them guess which words (or codenames) belong to your team. Guess them all correctly before the opposing team finds all their operatives for the win. However, both teams need to be careful to not accidentally guess the Assassin, because that results in an instant loss. This is a more strategy-based and thought-provoking party game, but it’s simple to pick up and a blast to play again and again.
Superfight

Many people grew up having arguments with friends about which characters could win against each other in a fight. Superfight turns that experience into a fun party game. Players play cards of characters and modify them with super powers, like Rambo with long metal claws or Abraham Lincoln with a jetpack, and then debate who should win the fight and why. Then, the other players vote on the winner. It’s a game that allows players to be creative and silly. While this is one that can lead to big laughs and ridiculous moments, it’s worth mentioning, though, that it needs to be played with people who can have a sense of humor and not take things too seriously.
Snake Oil

Snake Oil puts players in the roles of some rather wacky salesmen who must convince the customer to buy their product over everyone else’s. The products in question are a combination of the game’s cards. Laugh at the ridiculous products being sold, then laugh even more at what bonkers reasons people come up with as to why the customer should buy their products over the other players’. It uses a bit of creativity and is ultimately a hilarious time.
Cyanide and Happiness Games

If you like Cyanide and Happiness’s web comics, memes, and videos, you’re sure to enjoy their tabletop games. Joking Hazard has players play cards to create hilarious Cyanide and Happiness comics of their own. Trial by Trolley puts players in comically twisted trolley-problem scenarios. Master Dater has players playing match-maker with each other using some of the wildest characters imaginable. Each of their games offer the dark sense of humor that Cyanide and Happiness is synonymous with, and perfect for fans of their other work.
Just One

Just One is one of the simplest ideas for a board game, but it’s also surprisingly one of the most fun ones. It’s a cooperative party game that has players write down a one-word clue for the round’s guesser. That guesser must then figure out the secret word for the round based on the given clues. If the players give identical clues, they cancel each other out and the guesser cannot use them to figure out the secret word. It’s nice to see a party game that’s cooperative and one that makes one use their minds in such a way.
Dixit

Dixit is one of the most imaginative games on this list. The cards all depict incredible and sometimes abstract works of art. One player, the “storyteller” for the round, chooses one card from their hand, places it face down, and gives a clue for it. The other players must put down a card from their hand that matches that clue to trick everyone else into thinking their card was the one the storyteller played. This may not be as humorous as other party games, but it’s truly fascinating to see what you and your friends interpret from various pieces of art. This one uses a lot of creativity in a rather unique way.
