Adam Sandler Classics That Should Return Like ‘Happy Gilmore’

Adam Sandler fans have a lot to look forward to with the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2. The nostalgic dip into the popular comedian’s filmography is something moviegoers have been craving. With eyes on the legacy sequel, it’s hard not to wonder about which other Adam Sandler movies would be worth returning to. Let’s take a look at some of the best possibilities below.

Little Nicky

Little Nicky has Adam Sandler play the spawn of Satan and an angel who helps protect the balance between Earth and Hell. It’s a fantastical comedy that ends with Nicky deciding to stay on Earth, with his father stating that while he takes care of the underworld and Nicky’s mom is in Heaven, Nicky can look after the middle. It would be rather easy to come up with a sequel that follows that up. Nicky using his Heaven and Hell powers to help keep the balance between it all when a new threat arises (a fallen angel or escaped demon, perhaps) could make for a fun sequel.

The Waterboy

The Waterboy is one of the funniest and most quotable sports flicks around. With Happy Gilmore 2 showing audiences what would happen if Happy got back into golf, a Waterboy sequel could do the same with Bobby Boucher returning to the world of football. Maybe now he’s a coach who sees something special in the team’s new waterboy and puts him in the game. There’s a lot of hilarity that can ensue from there.

Big Daddy

Big Daddy is one of the more emotional comedy-dramas that Sandler has done. It’s also insanely memorable thanks to the likes of Scuba Steve and witty dialogue. Checking in on Sonny and the other characters could make for an intriguing story. They could get one of the Sprouse twins to reprise their role as Julian, and maybe they have Sonny take care of their kid for a while. This has the potential for a lot of laughs and a lot of heart.

Billy Madison

Billy Madison is often paired with Happy Gilmore in fans’ minds. It’s for sure an Adam Sandler favorite, and could definitely use a sequel. Billy made his way through grades 1 through 12. A film that now sends him back to college would be hilarious. He stated at the end of the movie that he was going to pursue teaching, so perhaps there’s an issue with his degree, and needs to re-earn it. An Adam Sandler college comedy sounds like a fun time.
