Characters Who Should Be In ‘Marvel Rivals’

Marvel Rivals has been taking the online gaming community by storm since its launch in December 2024. With dozens of Marvel Comics characters being pitted against each other in team-based gameplay, there’s a lot of fun to be had. There’s also a lot of potential when it comes to who else could be added to the roster in the future.

Let’s take a look at some of the most interesting options for characters who could be coming to Marvel Rivals. Marvel has a lot of heroes and villains in their arsenal, so we’ll just leave it at 10, and only include characters who haven’t already been announced or leaked in any way.

Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler is sure to be a fan-favorite Duelist if he’s ever added to the game. With his teleportation, he could zip around the map, proving to be a difficult target to hit, as well as being sneaky to attack opponents from behind. Plus, his sword fighting skills will undoubtedly be useful with taking down foes.

Ms. Marvel

Another great choice for a Duelist is Ms. Marvel. Her ability to “embiggen” and use super-sized fists and boots to squash her enemies would be a ton of fun. Her stretchy powers would allow her to be a solid mid-range combatant, and could maybe even pull opponents closer to her. Having her geek out about her teammates during the battle would also be rather entertaining.

Vision

The Vision is one of the few major Avengers missing from the game. It’s rather unfortunate, as he’d make for a perfect Specialist. With his abilities to phase through walls, create illusions, and manipulate energy, he could be a unique and more mobile addition to the lineup of Specialists on the roster. His energy blasts could also be used to take out foes from afar.

Howard the Duck

Howard the Duck would make for a perfect joke character that’s actually fun to play. Similar to the other little animal fellas, Rocket Raccoon and Jeff the Land Shark, Howard could prove to be a great choice for a Specialist, using his weapons to heal teammates and mastery of Quack-Fu to combat nearby enemies.

Gambit

Gambit is an obvious choice for a Duelist, and fans would go wild for him. His staff would be a powerful tool for melee combat, and launching playing cards with his kinetic energy powers would deal with foes from further away. He has some of the best potential for combo attacks out there.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur would make for such a fun 2-in-1 character, and with Devil Dinosaur’s size and strength, they’d make for a fantastic Vanguard. Use Moon Girl’s skates to get to opponents at a speedy pace, then swap to Devil Dinosaur to crush them and chomp them. This pair could give the game an extra sense of wackiness.

Ant-Man and/or The Wasp

It’s safe to assume that Ant-Man and the Wasp would have similar abilities, so one or the other could be included, if not both. Regardless of the route NetEase Games takes with them, either or both heroes would fit perfectly into the Specialist role. Shrinking yourself and your allies to sneak past enemies could prove to be especially useful. The Wasp’s stingers would make for great weapons in battle, and both characters would have access to some kind of tech that could heal teammates.

Shang-Chi

For a character that can fill any Duelist main’s desires, look no further than Shang-Chi. He’s a martial arts master that’s so skilled at fighting he has taken on numerous superhuman opponents. Armed with the heavenly Ten Rings, he’s even stronger, faster, and more durable. He’d definitely be a fun character to beat enemies up with and could rival the in-game menace that is Iron Fist.

Toad

This may sound like a bizarre choice, but Magneto’s henchman Toad would make for a fantastic Duelist. He could leap around the map, giving him mobility and making him hard to hit. His long, sticky tongue could be used to pull opponents toward him, similar to Spider-Man’s webbing. Something that makes this game stand out is its team-up abilities. One in which Toad teams up with Magneto by riding his ult to deal extra damage or pull goes toward it would be perfect.

Doctor Octopus

The game could always use more villains, and one who could shake things up a lot is Doctor Octopus. His giant, metal, tentacle-like arms could allow him to climb walls and attack foes from a decent distance. As a Vanguard, he’d be able to take a lot of damage as he rips through the enemy team with his robotic limbs. His tentacles can also easily be given all sorts of abilities, like creating shields or firing lasers.
