Disney Properties That Should Be Featured in Future ‘Lorcana’ Sets

Disney Lorcana, the latest trading card game to hit the tabletop gaming scene, recently dropped its first set: The First Chapter. This first set includes cards based on iconic Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Frozen, and many more. Playing a trading card game that features these beloved properties that people have enjoyed for years offers quite a lot of fun. While there are plenty of fan-favorite characters, items, and even songs represented in the game, there are still plenty of Disney-owned properties that could make their way into it as well. Here’s a list of just some Disney titles that should find their way into the world of Lorcana

Wreck-It Ralph

Ralph and his friends may be from the world of video games, but it’d be a blast to see them enter the realm of tabletop games. There are many elements of Wreck-It Ralph that would make perfect cards, including characters, candy-themed race cars, and even arcade machines. Ralph would be a clear heavy-hitter while Venellope would race to victory by scoring Lore as fast as possible.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Nightmare Before Christmas would be perfect to include in a set that releases around either Halloween or Christmas. It’s perfectly spooky and full of holiday cheer at the same time. The Tim Burton classic has plenty of diehard fans, meaning its inclusion could draw a lot of players to this card game. From Jack Skellington to Oogie Boogie, there are plenty of countless characters who could offer some fun abilities in Lorcana.

Toy Story

Lorcana definitely needs some Pixar representation, and they might as well start with their first feature length film. Andy had a lot of toys, from Woody and Buzz to Mr. Potato Head and Rex. All of them were quite different from each other, meaning that there are plenty of cards that could come from Toy Story and its sequels. It goes without saying that “You Got A Friend In Me” would make for a perfect Song card.

Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts is one of the biggest crossovers of Disney characters that celebrates the company’s long history. All characters original to Kingdom Hearts are also owned by Disney. This means that Sora, Kairi, Riku, the Heartless, Organization XIII and more are viable for Lorcana. Kingdom Hearts is a massively successful video game franchise. Gamers would flock to get their hands on Kingdom Hearts trading cards, and Lorcana is the perfect vessel for that.

Pirates of the Caribbean

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is one of the biggest live action hits Disney has ever had, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Captain Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swan, or any other swashbucklers be used for future cards. Sure, Disney would need to ensure they have the rights to the actors’ likenesses since the films are live action, but that’s something such a massive company is able to accomplish. Think of the damage the Kraken could do as a card. Jack’s magic compass is sure to be used as an item card.

Tron

Tron is a certified classic. Its unique visual effects and synthwave aesthetic could translate to some gorgeous card art. With two movies to pull characters, items, and ideas from, there’s no shortage of Tron card potential. The Master Control Program could likely be one of the toughest character cards in the entire game.

Big Hero 6

Superheroes have been ons of the biggest topics in media for a while now, so it may be a good idea for Ravensburger to approach them for some Lorcana cards. Big Hero 6 is the perfect team-up of Disney Disney Animation Studios and Marvel Comics, so it would be an ideal fit. With a team of superheroes and a terrifying villain, these characters would make for some truly fun cards.

Atlantis

Atlantis is one of the most underrated Disney flicks out there alongside Treasure Planet, which is at least featured on one card in the game so far. Atlantis needs its recognition as well. There were two Atlantis movies, both of which were filled with wacky characters, magical artifacts, and tons of machinery and explosive devices. Surely there’s something Ravensburger can pull from for Atlantis-inspired cards.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame is probably one of the biggest Disney animations that isn’t represented in Lorcana whatsoever. With memorable heroes, villains, and songs, it’s pretty outrageous to see it so absent. Quasimodo deserves to be on a card just as much as Hercules or Ariel. One could say the game feels “Topsy Turvy” without any reference to this animated classic.

Hocus Pocus

Hocus Pocus is a cult classic that rises in popularity every spooky season, making it a perfect movie to represent in the card game. The all-powerful Sanderson Sisters would not only make for great character cards, but they’d probably play off of each other nicely like Flotsam and Jetsam or Elsa and Anna do. It’s popular enough to receive a sequel almost 30 years later, so it’s definitely popular enough to be included in future Lorcana sets.

Tarzan

Rumor has it that Disney lost their license to use Tarzan characters in elements for any media outside of what’s already made. That being said, they are Disney after all. They undoubtedly have the money and resources to reobtain that license if they wanted. Tarzan is an incredible piece of Disney history that deserves to be celebrated like the rest. The vine-swinging hero needs to be featured on a Lorcana card, as well as Jane, Clayton, Terk, and Tantor.
