There are tons of stages in the Super Smash Bros. video game series. With the exception of a few original stages like Battlefield and Final Destination, the stages that gaming icons duke it out on represent famous and beloved locations in video game history. They further represent the gaming franchises along with the character roster. That being said, there could always be more stages in the hit platform fighter. Here are some other video game levels (from series that are already represented) that would make great Super Smash Bros. stages.
Bob-omb Battlefield (Super Mario 64)

Bob-omb Battlefield is the first course in Super Mario 64, making it the first level to be played in a 3D Mario game. At the time, it helped serve as many gamers’ introduction to 3D gaming when all they knew was 2D. Because of that, it’s an incredibly important piece of gaming history. It deserves to be in Smash Bros. for that reason alone. On top of that, the moving platforms and climbable slope would make for a unique stage design. Perhaps bob-ombs could waddle in and explode as a stage hazard.
The Deku Tree (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

Similarly, the Deku Tree is the first dungeon of the first 3D Legend of Zelda game, making it rather iconic. Climbing through the interior of the wise old tree involves leaping across shaky platforms and crossing bridges, which could work well in the format of a platform fighting stage. There are also chests that Link gets his compass and slingshot from which could be translated into chests that spawn random items in Super Smash Bros. Just be sure to watch out for pesky Skullwalltulas.
Gangplank Galleon (Donkey Kong Country)

Gangplank Galleon is where the final boss fight takes place in the original Donkey Kong Country, and it already sort of has the layout of what could be used as a Super Smash Bros. stage. A long, flat surface with a couple of walls/platforms on the sides could serve as a simple yet fun arena. It’s quite shocking that it wasn’t added when King K. Rool was announced as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The remix of the Gangplank Galleon music used in Ultimate is especially great, so it’s a bummer that the proper stage didn’t accompany it.
Destiny Islands (Kingdom Hearts)

Destiny Islands is the starting area in the original Kingdom Hearts and is Sora and Riku’s home world. It’s also one of the few worlds to be featured in many of the games throughout the series. It’s the perfect location to represent the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Plus, if the Smash Bros. version of it were to truly capture the feel of it from the original game, then it will use more platforming than Hollow Bastion.
Angel Island (Sonic the Hedgehog 3)

Angel Island is home to Knuckles the Echidna in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It’s where he spends his time protecting the Master Emerald. It may have debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but it’s played a major role in games going forward. Duking it out on grass-covered platforms with the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds shining in the background would be a blast for Sonic fans.
Space Colony ARK (Sonic Adventure 2)

Another iconic location from a fan-favorite Sonic game is the Space Colony ARK from Sonic Adventure 2. Much of the game’s premise centers on it, what it’s used for, what happened in the past, and how to get there now. It’s an extremely vital part of one of the most loved games in the franchise, making it deserve a place in Smash Bros. There are already a few space stages in Smash Bros., but one more can’t hurt. With plenty of platforms, grind rails, and wonky gravity, Nintendo has a lot to play with when creating a stage based on this space station.
Snipperclips (Snipperclips)

Snipperclips is a multiplayer game on the Nintendo Switch that involves snipping and clipping in order to solve mind-bending yet-adorable puzzles. With how popular the game was when Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was being advertised, many fans assumed that Snipperclips would be represented by a stage or an Assist Trophy, but neither became true. Each puzzle in Snipperclips has the level set up on a single screen and uses platforms, elevators, basketball hoops, and various mechanisms. Each of these have the potential to make for a unique stage in Super Smash Bros.
Lavender Town (Pokémon Red and Blue)

Lavender Town is an especially spooky town in the original Pokémon games. Saffron City is already a Pokémon-themed city rooftop stage, but Lavender Town stands out with the Pokémon Tower. Each fight on a Lavender Town stage could have players climb floor after floor of grave sites. Terrifying ghost Pokémon popping out graves to attack the players would be fun jump scares as well as tricky stage hazards.
Tetris (Tetris)

Tetris is one of the most well-known video games of all time. Even the most casual of gamers have probably played the fast-paced puzzle game. It’s odd that the Tetris representation in Super Smash Bros. is so minimal. Its catchy music is used in multiple Smash Bros. games, but that’s it. Why wouldn’t that music be used in an actual Tetris stage? The various colored blocks would make for great platforms, and the blocks falling onto the players would be an obvious stage hazard. Imagine how much fun it would be to duke it out as a game of Tetris plays out right on top of the combatants.
