Nerdy News 12/10/20

Here’s the breakdown of the latest news in nerd culture:

The Spider-Men May be Together in New Sequel

The cast of the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home has reportedly grown by a couple of extra Spider-Men. Toby MacGuire and Andrew Garfield may have signed on to appear in the new film. Other actors reported to appear are Jamie Foxx reprising his Amazing Spider-Man 2 role as Electro, Alfred Molina returning as Doctor Octopus, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, and Charlie Coxx as Daredevil.

It has yet to be confirmed, but with Doctor Strange also appearing in the film after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it may be safe to assume they are planning some sort of live-action Spider-verse movie. This could be a lot of fun, but some fans are pointing out that this may lead to an imbalance of screen time for the star, Tom Holland.

An Apex Legends Book is on the Way

Respawn Entertainment is teaming up with Dark Horse Books to release an Apex Legends lore book focusing on the grappling hook-loving robot, Pathfinder. The book, titled Pathfinder’s Quest, will detail Pathfinder’s mysterious backstory told through interviews he has with the other Legends as he searches for who his creator is.

The lore book will be roughly 190 pages long and will be released on February 2nd, 2021 in hardcover for $39.99 and on Kindle for $23.99. This may open the door for future lore books about the other characters in the game.

Lifetime and KFC are Teaming up for a Sexy Colonel Sanders Movie

Yes, you read that correctly, Lifetime will be airing a mini movie about a sexy version of Colonel Sanders, KFC’s mascot. Mario Lopez will star as Sanders himself in A Recipe for Seduction, which will air December 13th at 12:00 PM Eastern.

If the trailer is any indication, this is sure to be a hilarious film for bad movie nights. Let’s hope this will allow Lifetime to give the same goofy treatment to Ronald McDonald, the Burger King, and other food icons.

Halo Infinite to Release Fall 2021

We now have an idea as to when Halo Infinite, the next installment in the Halo video game franchise, will release. It is now set to release in Fall of 2021. The highly anticipated video game was originally set to release alongside the XBox Series X in December of 2020, but was delayed.

The exact day and month have not been specified yet, but Halo fans are eager to finally get their hands on the first person shooter.

Peter Dinklage to Star in Toxic Avenger Remake

Legendary is reimagining 1984’s low-budget action comedy cult classic, The Toxic Avenger, and Peter Dinklage is set to star as the titular hero. Macon Blair is set to direct.

There is no release date or other casting details for the film yet, but it will convey environmental themes and subvert the superhero subgenre similar to Deadpool. Where it is being considered a reimagining rather than a remake, the story may differ at least somewhat from the original film and its sequels.
