Nerdy News 11/12/20

Here’s the breakdown of the latest news in nerd culture:

Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Revealed

BioWare has announced that it will be remastering its sci-fi gaming trilogy, Mass Effect, and releasing it all in one pack. This newest version of the trilogy will be titled Mass Effect Legendary Edition and will feature better character models, textures, shading, and frame rates while delivering the same outstanding story and gameplay that fans love.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is set to launch on current and next-gen consoles as well as PC. There is no release date announced for it yet. It’ll be exciting for fans to return to this beloved franchise and for those who missed out on the games when they originally released to experience it for the first time.

Fantastic Beasts Loses its Villain

Warner Bros. has asked Johnny Depp to resign from his role as the villainous Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts film franchise. This comes after Depp lost his libel case against News Group Newspapers in which he sued them for an article they published calling Depp a “wife beater.” Many fans have been showing their outrage and support for Depp online as it was proven earlier this year that his ex-wife, Amber Heard, had lied about the incident and is still employed by Warner Bros. for her role as Mera in the Aquaman franchise.

It is unknown as to how this will affect the Fantastic Beasts series. We could possibly see a brand new villain take over for Grindelwald, or a different actor take over the role.

Batman: Three Jokers Sequel in Development

One of DC’s highest-selling comics this year was Batman: Three Jokers, and now a sequel comic has been announced for it. The one-off sequel will be created by Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok. Not much is known about what the sequel will feature, but let’s assume and hope it will answer more questions. It’s also not known where in the canon Three Jokers or its sequel takes place, but they will be used to help establish DC’s Omniverse.

Given that the Joker is one of the greatest villains in comic book history, this is extremely exciting news, as we can now get three of him at once. Plus, we’ll be able to explore the character and potentially find out more about him than ever before.
