An exciting trend in modern blockbuster movies is waiting to see some sort of tease at the end of the credits. The Super Mario Bros. Movie famously featured a brief scene that revealed a Yoshi egg hatching, hinting at the probability of Yoshi being a focus of the second film.
With the second movie in the franchise, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, releasing in theaters soon, it makes one wonder what could be teased at the very end. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest possibilities for what could be in a post-credits scene, assuming one takes place.
Wario and/or Waluigi

Wario and Waluigi are both extremely major characters from the video games who have yet to appear. They’re also beloved by the fan-base, so it would make sense for them to appear. Storywise, they’re fantastic rivals to Mario and Luigi, so they could easily serve as antagonists in a movie. Perhaps Bowser will hire “Mario Bros.” of his own.
Princess Daisy

Princess Daisy doesn’t usually get much in terms of story, but she still has a lot of video game appearances and is another fan-favorite. In a movie, she could easily be the ruler of another kingdom the heroes can find on their adventures. Regardless of how she’s handled in the story, she’s popular enough that she will definitely show up at some point in a movie.
F.L.U.U.D.

With this second movie taking most of its inspiration from Super Mario Galaxy, it would be really cool to see the next film adapt Super Mario Sunshine. F.L.U.U.D., Mario’s water pack that he uses to travel, get around obstacles, clean up goop, and battle enemies, would be a fantastic hint at it. It would be cool to see a Mario movie with tropical vibes, especially if that movie gets a summer release.
Professor E. Gadd

Professor E. Gadd would be another solid hint at a Super Mario Sunshine movie, as he built F.L.U.U.D. However, this kooky scientist also built Luigi’s Poltergust vacuum in the Luigi’s Mansion video games. He also has much more of a presence in Luigi’s Mansion, so this wacky old guy showing up at the end of a Mario movie would be a great way to set up Luigi’s spin-off adventure.
Dry Bowser

Dry Bowser appearing is the perfect way to showcase Bowser’s return if he’s seemingly defeated in the movie. He’s also really cool. A big, spooky, skeleton version of Bowser is just plain awesome, and does pose as a threat for the heroes. Perhaps Bowser will plummet into the depths of a lava planet, only to climb back out as Dry Bowser after the credits. How could the Mario Bros. take on an undying threat?
The Koopalings

If Illumination ever wants more variety for their antagonists, the Koopalings would be the ideal choice. These little agents of chaos were originally Bowser’s kids, but have been retconned into just being his higher-up henchmen. Whichever they go with for a movie, these adorable maniacs will offer up a ton of fun for moviegoers of all kinds. Any post-credits scene that reveals the Koopalings will surely lead to cheers from the audience.
