One of the biggest recent announcements in video games is that of Divinity from Larian Studios. Since it was announced at The Game Awards at the end of 2025, gamers have been letting their hype run wild. There have been posts from all over social media discussing how people’s excitement has been off the charts since the surprising announcement, but there’s not tons that’s publicly known about the game yet.
Still, there are great reasons for fans to be excited. For one, the developers were willing to have a monolith built in the desert in real life and basically have the rapture take place at the Game Awards. With bonkers advertising like that, especially before the game was even announced, it certainly proves how much faith Larian Studios has in this project.
On top of that, this is Larian Studios we’re talking about. These are the same folks who gave Baldur’s Gate 3 to the world. The award-winning Baldur’s Gate 3 has come to be known as one of the biggest and best RPGs in recent years. It also did a fantastic job at attracting more players to the genre.
Larian Studios is claiming that the upcoming Divinity is somehow even more in-depth than Baldur’s Gate 3. With Baldur’s Gate 3 offering countless choices for players to make and seemingly-endless ways to play, that’s both shocking and extremely impressive. With depth being one of the selling points of Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s hard not to feel eager to explore the world of Divinity when it’s finally released.
The folks at Larian were the same who developed the several classic Divinity games. Because of this, not only do they know what they’re doing with their own property, but it’s a Divinity game being made with modern resources. It’s sure to be the biggest one yet. If you’re a fan of the classic series, then you certainly have a lot to look forward to here.
If you’re someone who has never touched a Divinity game, then you’re still in luck. Larian has promised that the new game doesn’t require any sort of homework or any knowledge of their previous RPGs. Anyone can jump in and enjoy the new game. If you’re a long-time fan of their games, the new game will still undoubtedly match any expectation they have.
Larian Studios clearly puts the necessary time and effort into their games instead of rushing through the development process like other gaming studios do. Anyone who loves RPGs or is looking to jump into the genre should keep an eye out for any updates on Divinity and add it to their list once it releases.
