2023’s Five Nights at Freddy’s movie spooked audiences when the folks at Blumhouse brought the killer animatronics to life. Now, the sequel is heading to theaters to haunt fans’ nightmares. Let’s take a look at the recent trailer for Five Nights at Feddy’s 2 to see what other details from the popular video game series are brought to the big screen.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 | Official Trailer
Different Location
The second game in the series, which this movie is based on, takes place at a different location and in the past. Here, it looks like a group of characters stumble upon this other, long-abandoned location filled with animatronics different from the first film. Judging from this trailer, it looks like this separate location will mostly be used in the opening scenes, but it will be fun to see what horrors lurk within it.
Balloon Boy
At this other location is a different version of the Balloon Boy, who is now closer to how he looks in the source material since he’s much taller this time around. The tiny Balloon Boy in the first movie was the one who drove off in a taxi at the end, and is heavily speculated to be the soul of Mike’s brother. If there’s a different Balloon Boy in this new movie, it makes one wonder how it will all play out with this mysterious and creepy character.
Toy Versions of the Animatronics
With this new location also comes different versions of the haunted animatronics. These are the Toy versions from the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 video game. The main group of robots here have a cuter design with more color and rosy cheeks. These are fan-favorite versions, so it’s nice to see them making it into the movie.

Jack in the Box and Puppet
Another new animatronic is the Puppet, along with his jack in the box. This is another fan-favorite character from the video games, and is easily one of the scariest. This character is sure to lead to some of the best jumpscares throughout the movie, and that jack in the box music will absolutely create an eerie atmosphere.
A Voice on the Radio
Abby is able to communicate with her “old friends” via a Freddy Fazbear themed radio called the Faztalker. I don’t think this is something from the games, but it looks like something that would fit in the world quite nicely. It’s a piece of merch that would realistically exist in this world. Depending on how it’s used in the movie, the sound of static could become something tons of fans become afraid of.
The Mangle
There are a couple of brief glimpses of the Mangle, the terrifying amalgamation of scrapped parts that moves in unsettling ways. This looks to be one of the most violent animatronics in the whole lineup. This fits exactly how it’s seen in the games. The Toy Foxy head makes it that much scarier.
Animatronics on the Loose
This time around, it looks like there will be animatronics on the loose and not just cooped up in a restaurant-arcade. The trailer even shows Freddy walking through hordes of people. This could spell bad news for anyone who crosses their paths. It’s also a great way to raise the stakes for a sequel. There’s the potential for much more danger this way.
Freddy Mask
In the trailer, Mike is seen picking up a Freddy mask to use as a disguise to trick the animatronics. This is translated directly from an actual in-game mechanic, which is really neat to see. It’s always exciting to see mechanics from a video game making their way into an adaptation. It also looks like this particular mechanic may help balance the horror and comedy elements by being funny in a scary scenario.

Withered Bonnie
The very end of the trailer features Withered Bonnie, a nightmarish version of the character with his face missing and just exposed wiring showing. This is supposedly the character that franchise creator Scott Cawthon was scared of the most when developing the games, so he will surely serve as nightmare fuel for moviegoers everywhere when the film releases on December 5th, 2025.
