Marvel Characters Who Should Appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Marvel recently announced a slew of actors who will be appearing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. This includes the likes of Robert Downey Jr., who will be playing Dr. Doom, as well as the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the cast of Thunderbolts, former X-Men actors, MCU staples like Chris Hemsworth, and more. The full list can be seen here.

That being said, there are plenty of Marvel superheroes who are notably absent from the list. It’s pretty clear they aren’t done announcing actors and characters who will be appearing in this larger-than-life movie. Here are just some of the other Marvel characters who should appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

(Author’s note: If any of these characters are announced to be in the movie after I write this, it is what it is. There’s no knowing when announcements will occur and making changes would take effort that isn’t worth it.)

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange has become one of the most popular and well-known heroes in the MCU. For some time, there were talks of Doctor Strange taking over as the leading hero after Iron Man’s sacrifice. He’s become so integral to the MCU that it would be more surprising to not see him in this movie.

Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel should be another shoo-in. Not only is Marvel literally in her name, but she’s also insanely powerful, which can lead to exciting battles. Her character is still going strong in the MCU, with her starring in one of the most recent movies. It would feel weird to have her be absent.

Nick Fury

Nick Fury was the one who chose the original Avengers roster. He may be done with that type of work, but there are heroes who still look to him. He has a lot of connections, which can help move the plot along. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson always brings charisma to any film he’s in.

Hawkeye

Clint Barton was one of the founding members of the MCU’s Avengers, some of which are now gone. It would make sense to have what founding members are able to show up in this new movie. Either him, or Kate Bishop as the new Hawkeye, would also keep the team feeling grounded. There’s something fun about a simple bow and arrow user fighting alongside super beings.

Star-Lord

We were told that the legendary Star-Lord would return. We have yet to see that, but we do know he’s back on Earth. Avengers: Doomsday would provide the perfect opportunity for the former Guardian of the Galaxy to don his helmet and jet boots to help save those who can’t save themselves.

Rocket Raccoon and His New Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s ending gave fans a glimpse at a new team of Guardians led by Rocket Raccoon. Rocket is easily one of the most intriguing characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it would be cool to see him, and even his team, help the Avengers battle Dr. Doom. If this conflict reaches beyond Earth, which it seems like it does, it would concern them too.

Kahhori

Marvel’s What If…? introduced a character named Kahhori in what is undoubtedly one of the show’s best episodes. She’s an entertaining and fascinating character with tremendous powers. It would be really cool to see her make the jump into live action, and Avengers: Doomsday may serve as the perfect opportunity for it.

Captain Carter

It’s obvious from the inclusion of previous X-Men actors and the new Fantastic Four that this movie will incorporate plenty of characters from other universes and timelines. Captain Carter, as seen in What If…? and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is a perfect character to represent that. Hayley Atwell being added to the cast would mean the brilliant character could be seen at least one more time, which would be exciting for fans.

Ghost Rider

Since pre-MCU actors are reprising their superhero roles from various Marvel movies, why not bring in Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider? It would at the very least lead to cool visuals, and could give fans an insight as to what eventually happened to his character back in his own universe. A biker with a flaming skull teaming up with the Avengers sounds just plain awesome.

Howard the Duck

This could be either the classic movie version, Seth Green’s MCU version, or both. Either way, Howard is a perfectly ridiculous character and would surely lead to fun shenanigans in Avengers: Doomsday. He’s been criminally underused in the MCU, so this could give him a moment or two to finally shine.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel is one of the most fun and relatable characters who was introduced in the straight-to-Disney shows, and she made The Marvels an entertaining watch. Imagine her geeking out over everyone else in the Avengers. That sounds like pure joy. Plus, it feels like her character still has a lot worth exploring.

Moon Knight

Speaking of characters that need more exploration, we need to see more of Moon Knight. In an Avengers movie, he can add a lot of excitement to the action sequences. Plus, his relationship to Khonshu could be a catalyst into gaining insight and added lore regarding gods and other mythical beings.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk’s Disney+ series served as a fantastic parody of the MCU while introducing a fun new Marvel character from the comics. It could be neat to see her make her return and poke some fun at the rest of the Marvel Universe while in something as major as an Avengers film. Plus, another super strong Hulk can only lead to even bigger action.

The Eternals

The events of the Eternals’ movie were finally acknowledged in Captain America: Brave New World. They’re a unique team of characters who don’t deserve to be forgotten, so let’s bring them into one of the big crossover films. There are a lot of them, so character’s likely won’t get a whole lot of screen time, but their incredible powers will make for an epic team-up battle alongside some of the Marvel legends.

The Defenders

The Defenders is another Marvel team in need of some love. Daredevil and the Punisher recently made their return in Daredevil: Born Again, but what about the others? Fans would rejoice if the likes of Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist not only made their returns, but if they finally made their way to the big screen and interacted with the Avengers.

Deadpool

You know it. I know it. We all know it. If Marvel wants to maximize their profits from this movie, Deadpool will finally interact with the Avengers. His fourth wall breaks that poke fun at the other heroes will be the funniest parts of the movie, and any team-ups with him will be legendary. C’mon Marvel, do this for your fans.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It’s been debated whether or not the iconic Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series is canon to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even if it technically isn’t, a multiverse-based movie would be the perfect time to bring them in and finally put these fan-favorite characters on the big screen. Think about how cool it would be to see the likes of Quake teaming up with the Avengers, or everyone’s reactions to seeing Coulson still alive.
