‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Teaser Trailer Details

Adam Sandler has had a long career with a rather extensive filmography. His movies have ranged from some of the funniest comedies of all time to surprisingly great dramas and to absolute stinkers. A lot of folks have been nostalgic for Sandler’s early films, with their unique premises and zany, over-the-top humor. Because of this, now is the perfect time to revisit them. The first teaser trailer for the long-awaited Happy Gilmore, which will premiere on Netflix later this year, has dropped. Let’s take a look at every putt, one-liner, and ridiculous moment it has to offer.

Happy Gilmore 2 | Official Teaser Trailer | Netflix

Humor

Obviously, Happy Gilmore is an iconic comedy film, so the humor needs to be presented strongly in the trailer to bring audiences back. Thankfully, it is. Referential humor, slapstick, and the exact type of humor that classic Sandler fans have been craving all seems to be present, which is extremely welcome. This new film will surely lead to lots of laughs.

A Proper Continuation

This sequel feels like a true continuation for Happy Gilmore. This doesn’t appear to be a retread of the same story, which is a trap that a lot of legacy sequels fall into. It looks like the movie will reference the events of the original movie, but won’t rely too heavily on them, which is another trap other sequels often fall into. This feels like an organic continuation for the characters and their lives. It doesn’t feel like random callbacks the whole time, which is genuinely a relief to see.

Heart

By the looks of this teaser, there will be a fair share of heart throughout this story as well. The original had its emotional moments, especially with Chubbs. They weren’t in the spotlight as much as the humor or other elements, but they were there. It’s good to see them here as well. It looks like this movie, based on this trailer, might even be a bit more emotional than the original. That could also be the nostalgia talking.

Who Is Returning

With some of the original actors no longer with us, it’s great to see who’s able to return. Obviously there’s Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore, but Julie Bowen’s Virginia Venit will be back and still be Happy’s love interest. Of course, Christopher McDonald is returning as Shooter McGavin. It would feel weird without him. Ben Stiller is returning as the psychotic Hal L, so it’ll be interesting to see what other mayhem he brings to these characters. It’ll be cool to see who else might show up. It’s also worth noting that there will be a number of new characters being introduced. Let’s see how they stack up against the chaos that is the rest of Happy Gilmore.

Story

This may just be a teaser trailer, but it tells us just enough about what the movie is actually about. Happy, who now is one of the golfing greats, comes out of retirement to compete once again. Honestly, we don’t need to know much more than that. That’s the perfect amount of the story that’s needed to attract audiences. Anything else would give too many of the jokes or surprises away. This is exactly how a teaser trailer should be, and the story sounds like a fun one that will serve as the setup for plenty of wacky shenanigans.

Happy Gilmore 2 releases on Netflix July 25th, 2025.
