Many fans were surprised by how fantastic a TV series adapted from the Twisted Metal video games could be. Season 1 of the show proved to be a big hit, becoming one of the most successful originals ever on Peacock. Now, with Season 2 on the way, the trailer has been released to get fans amped up about what’s next for the series. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
Twisted Metal | Season 2 OFFICIAL TEASER
The Tournament and Where the Story is Now
This trailer gives a nice recap of the events seen in the first season, and tells us how it will flow into the story of this new season. The Twisted Metal tournament is finally upon us, so things should really start feeling like the video games now. John Doe, the driver of Roadkill, is in love with Quiet, is spending some screen time with his sister, Dollface, and competing against other drivers in the tournament. The first season’s story was fun enough, but the tournament setting matches the games more, will lead to more explosive action, and the sinister motives and logistics behind the creation of it could lead to some intriguing mystery.
Characters New and Returning
We also get some glimpses at both new and returning characters who will be featured during this new season. Despite John and Quiet going their separate ways, it’s nice to see that Quiet will still be present. Of course, Sweet Tooth, the series’ mascot, as well as the underrated character of Stu, will be back.
Among the newcomers include Calypso, the main antagonist of the games who created the tournament, the fan-favorites Axel and Mr. Grimm who were teased at the end of last season, as well as characters who look to be Raven (as opposed to the different character with the same name in Season 1) who drives Shadow, Krista Sparks who is the driver of Grasshopper, and Goggle Eyes who drives Roach Coach. There are also glimpses of the vehicles Junkyard Dog and Spectre, the latter probably being the car of Bloody Mary who was introduced in Season 1.

John Reuniting with His Sister
The end of Season 1 revealed that Dollface, the driver of Darkside, exists in this version. It also revealed that she’s John Doe’s sister. By the looks of this trailer, she and John will be spending a lot of time together. Not only is this exciting since she’s a fan-favorite character, but she’s also a rather gung ho and violent character. She’ll likely add a lot of chaos and fun to the action sequences. It’ll be intriguing to see how she interacts with the rest of the main cast.
Paranormal Element
With Season 1 focusing on a somewhat realistic world (with lots of crazy vehicles and explosions), a lot of fans weren’t sure if the show would tackle the more paranormal elements of the games. However, we can all let out a sigh of relief, because those elements look to be very present here. A character, which could be Mr. Grimm without his helmet or someone else, inhales the soul of someone as they pass away. This embrace of the supernatural spells good news for characters like Bloody Mary and Calypso. Source material accuracy is what the fans are looking for, so this is especially exciting.

Action and Vehicle Combat
Of course, the trailer gives us a taste of the action and vehicle-based combat we can expect to see this season, and it looks bigger, better, and more explosive than ever. With wackier vehicles like Axel’s, paranormal powers, and upping the ante for the tournament’s prize and audience, things are about to be more chaotic and more violent in the most fun of ways.
This season is shaping up to be even more of a blast than the first when it releases on Peacock this summer.
