The upcoming film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is hitting the big screen soon, and fans of the video game source material are getting more and more excited the closer it gets. They’ve been celebrating what glimpses have been shown in the movie’s trailer and speculating what else could make it into the story. With just the one trailer to go off of (at the time of writing this), folks have been trying to predict what the inevitable post-credits scene could offer.
The first film’s post-credits scene introduced Sonic’s best friend Tails into the series. The second movie’s post-credits scene revealed that Shadow the Hedgehog was on his way. What’s something that could be just as exciting that could hint at what’s to come next? Let’s take a peak at some of the possibilities ranked based on how likely they are to happen next.
6) Team Chaotix

Team Chaotix is a wacky team of detectives known as Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy Bee. They’re some of the more fun side characters, and a detective story being involved in the next movie or Paramount+ series could be entertaining. There have been rumors regarding Team Chaotix’s inclusion in the movies for a while, and they were even seen in the background of a Knuckles tie-in comic book. That being said, a post-credits scene featuring them wouldn’t tell us much about what’s next, and it would feel odd to introduce them before some bigger, more major characters.
5) Rouge the Bat

From what we’ve seen so far, Rouge the Bat might not be in this movie. This is a bit of a shame due to how major of a character she is in the video game franchise and how important she is to the plot of Sonic Adventure 2, which this film is said to pull a lot from. There is the chance that the treasure-hunting, government operative bat could be saved for a post-credits tease. However, like Team Chaotix, that wouldn’t give us much of a hint as to any other threat coming. Perhaps it could be a scene of G.U.N. finding a being similar to Team Sonic that is willing to work for them completely. That could mean something interesting for the future of the series.
4) Black Doom

With Shadow being such a large focus of the new movie, it would make sense for Black Doom to be on the way at some point as well. Black Doom played a major role in Shadow’s creation and served as the primary antagonist of the Shadow the Hedgehog video game. If a Shadow spin-off series or movie is planned, it’s a safe bet that Black Doom could be the antagonist in that as well. A post-credits scene could set that up wonderfully.
3) Silver, Blaze, and/or Iblis

Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 was a bit of a mess, but it does have a very theatrical story. Silver and Blaze teleporting in from the future to warn of terrible events to come would lead to a lot of intrigue and speculation until the next movie finally releases. Silver’s telekinetic powers and Blaze’s fire abilities would be a lot of fun to see on the big screen, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the filmmakers wanted to play with those elements. Their nemesis, Iblis, was hinted at in the Knuckles show in the form of a puppet, so who knows what their plans are?
2) Chaos

If they plan on exploring the Chaos Emeralds and how they work, a great direction for them to go in would be to introduce Chaos. He was a major antagonist in Sonic Adventure, in which he was shown to be one of the first guardians of the Master Emerald and came to reside inside of it. A race against him to get the Chaos Emeralds before he does would prove to be an exciting story, as each emerald he collects transforms him into something more monstrous. The battle against Perfect Chaos would be one of the biggest and best scenes they could adapt onto the big screen, so it wouldn’t be a bad decision to introduce Chaos in a post-credits scene for fans to prepare for it.
1) Metal Sonic and/or Amy Rose

The most obvious tease fans can expect to see at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be one featuring Metal Sonic, perhaps along with Amy Rose as well. Metal Sonic and Amy have both been major characters of the video game franchise, even longer that Shadow has. It’s weird that Amy has yet to make an appearance in the franchise considering she’s a part of the main team, so she’ll likely show up soon. Metal Sonic is easily the most iconic villain in the games outside of Dr. Eggman, so it would make sense to see him introduced next. Perhaps, assuming this is Jim Carrey’s last bout as Dr. Robotnik, Agent Stone will find the blueprints for Metal Sonic and build him to honor his beloved boss.
