The Gremlins movie franchise was dormant for decades until the animated series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, started streaming on Max in 2023. Now, the show’s second season, titled Gremlins: The Wild Batch, is releasing October 3rd, 2024 to expand on the lore even further. The trailer for this new season dropped and is filled with absolute mayhem. Let’s take a look at what details it holds.

Gizmo’s Going Bad

One of the saddest things imaginable might be happening. Our adorable fuzzball, Gizmo, might be turning evil. Noggin, the intelligent gremlin, even says “Gizmo is one of us now.” It’s not clear as to why or how, but Gizmo gaining red eyes and going full gremlin is a devastating thought. Hopefully Sam and the others find a way to help him. 

Megazord of Gremlins

There’s a brief shot of what looks like a tower of gremlins piles on top of each other, as if they formed some sort of Gremlin Megazord. Last season featured a gremlin kaiju, leaving us wonder what else they could come up with. Hundreds of gremlins combining to form some rat king type of monster is a really cool substitute. Plus, it looks extremely threatening.

San Francisco

The adventure now takes the characters to San Francisco. The previous season ended with Noggin making his way there, so now we’ll get to see what havoc he’ll cause. America will prove to be a very different setting, which could keep the antics feeling fresh. Is this how Sam migrated to the United States, or will that still come later in his life?

Elle’s Dreams

Elle seems to be having mysterious dreams involving her mother. Her mom is calling to her in these dreams, telling her to find her in America. Not only is this another good reason for the heroes to make their way to America, but this may also give us more of Elle’s backstory, which will be super interesting to see.

New Magical Threats

There are tons of new magical threats the heroes will have to face. The trailer gives us glimpses of dragons, an electrified ghost woman, zombies, and of course, lots and lots of gremlins. It’ll be exciting to see how the characters will overcome this wide variety of obstacles on their journey. One of the most thrilling elements of the first season was seeing how the various fantasy elements were incorporated. It appears that will be the case here as well.

Sam’s Hat

Sam appears to be wearing the same black bowler hat that he wears in the original movie. It might not really mean much, but it’s a neat nod to the classic films. Easter eggs like this is fun for fans.
