‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer Details

The wait is finally over; the trailer for the third Deadpool film has finally been released. The movie, which is titled Deadpool & Wolverine, will not only serve as the third installment in this fan-favorite film series, but it will also serve as Deadpool’s entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This first trailer features a shocking amount of exciting details for diehard fans to speculate over, so let’s take a look at the biggest ones in this upcoming superhero flick.

A Birthday Party Surrounded by Friends

Wade celebrates his birthday party surrounded by his friends. It’s actually a touching moment that shows how far the character has come since the first movie. It’s worth taking note of who’s here, though. The end of Deadpool 2 shows him traveling through time to save Vanessa and Peter, so it makes sense that they’re there. However, Shatterstar is also there which implies he probably rescued the rest of the X-Force members as well. Will we see them throughout the rest of the movie as well?

The notable absences here, though, are Domino and Cable. They were both an important part of Deadpool 2, so it would be a bummer to not see them return for this one.

The TVA

The TVA, or the Time Variant Authority, is the organization that oversees the various timelines and makes sure they’re all moving along smoothly without anyone causing them to break. They’ve heavily been featured in the Loki Disney+ series, which is a nice way to tie the MCU’s lore in with Deadpool’s. Perhaps his time traveling shenanigans at the end of Deadpool 2 put him on their watchlist. It seems like they need his help, so maybe he’s not in a ton of trouble for what he did.

Fourth Wall Breaks

In true Deadpool fashion, Wade is seen breaking the fourth wall several times throughout the trailer. He even pokes fun at Disney, who now owns the rights to the Deadpool movies. He even uses this opportunity to say things that are comically more vulgar than anything said in the MCU before. It’s nice to see this element of Deadpool is still present.

Paradox

The trailer gives Marvel fans the first glimpse of a character known as Paradox. In the comics, he’s known for being one of the presiding judges for the trial of She-Hulk. Here, he looks to be a liaison to Deadpool within the TVA. Looks like we’re getting a new TVA-related character, and it makes sense for it to be Paradox. It’ll be fun to see how the goofy Deadpool interacts with this stiff.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe

At the TVA, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is literally shown on screens. Wade essentially gets to watch the MCU movies, which is a pretty hilarious idea. He’s tasked with saving the universe that is the MCU, which is the perfect way to pull him and his movies into this shared movie universe. It looks like the film will have him traveling through the MCU and its various locations and events, which could serve as a fun celebration of all things Marvel.

Cassandra Nova

There’s a quick glimpse of a mysterious bald person from the back of their head. With their large popped collar, it looks to be Cassandra Nova, Charles Xavier’s “twin sister” who has proven to be a formidable foe to the X-Men. While this is probably her, it could be someone else with a similar profile since we don’t see much of them in the trailer. Either way, the brief shot of them does give off major villain vibes.

Patch

There’s another character who’s only seen from behind in the trailer, and that’s Patch. Patch is an especially dapper variant of Wolverine. Since the TVA is involved and there will be some clear timeline hopping throughout the movie, it makes a lot of sense to see variants of Wolverine and maybe even some other characters.

20th Century Fox Logo Crumbles

During what looks to be an intense fight scene, the 20th Century Fox logo is seen crumbling in the background. While this is a humorous visual gag and fourth wall break, it’s hard not to think about what this could actually mean storywise. Will the Fox X-Men universe be on the brink of destruction?

Mysterious Masked Man

There’s a mysterious masked man in a hood wielding a gun and some crazy-looking tech. It’s not known exactly who he is, but there have been some fans speculating that it’s Doctor Doom. This is an odd assumption since this person doesn’t look like Doctor Doom and the character wouldn’t be wielding a gun. Just because he wears a hood doesn’t immediately make him Doctor Doom. This is most likely just a henchman working for the real big bad.

Pyro

Pyro is here! Pyro is a popular X-Men antagonist, so it’s cool to see him here. He’s even played by Aaron Stanford who played him in the 2000s X-Men movies. Maybe we’ll see what he’s been up to since. It also looks like he’s wearing an outfit that’s a bit more comic book accurate, which is always nice to see.

Wolverine

The trailer ends with the first glimpse of Wolverine. We only see his shadow, but it’s an exciting confirmation nonetheless if the title wasn’t enough for you. It looks like this movie will be an odd couple-type buddy comedy as they travel across the multiverse together, which sounds like a blast. It’s always good to see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Logan, even if this might be his final time doing so.
