The 5 Worst Muppets

It’s hard not to love the Muppets. There are so many Muppet characters, and each have their own distinct personalities. Almost all of them, from Kermit to Beaker, are loveable in their own ways. There are a few, however, who just don’t live up to the lovability of the rest for one reason or another. Some are annoying while others take away from characters that people care about more. Some are just plain pointless. Here’s a list of some of the worst Muppets who should be forgotten.

Beverly Plume

Beverly Plume is a talking turkey who debuted in the Disney+ series Muppets Now. She hosted the “Okey Dokey Kookin” segments in which the Swedish Chef pitted against real celebrity chefs in cook-offs. The segment was a funny-enough concept, but Beverly Plume always held the Swedish Chef back from getting too wild with his food creations or his kitchen chaos. She’s uptight and too much of a stick in the mud compared to most Muppets. Plus, she prevented the Swedish Chef’s segments from being as fun as they could have been. She existed to make an entire recurring segment less entertaining.

The Ghost of Christmas Past

The Ghost of Christmas Past from The Muppet Christmas Carol is more or less a Muppety version of the classic Charles Dickens character. This version, though, is extremely creepy. For an upbeat family musical, it’s odd that this demon baby is pure nightmare fuel. They’re even scarier than the Ghost of Christmas Future, which shouldn’t be the case. Muppets aren’t meant to be scarier than actual horror movie villains. This weird human-Muppet hybrid thing can stay away.

Chip the IT Guy

Speaking of creepy, it’s hard to be creepier than Chip the IT Guy. He’s the kind of guy who mouth-breathes too close behind you. He’s always sort of lurking and eavesdropping during The Muppets ABC series. On top of his behavior, instead of his eyes blinking, just his pupils do, which is kind of gross. Why not just have stagnant eyes like other Muppets? He’s also unnecessary since Dr. Honeydew can provide any IT needs the Muppets have.

Miss Mousey

Miss Mousey was used as a bit of a love interest to Kermit the Frog in The Muppet Valentine Show and a few episodes of The Muppet Show. Of course, this led to her being a rival of Miss Piggy. It’s tough to imagine since Miss Piggy and Kermit are usually seen as the main Muppet couple. With Miss Piggy being a fan-favorite icon of the Muppets, it’s hard to side with anyone who’d oppose her in such a way. Miss Mousey also didn’t have much of a personality. She was just sort of “there.” She’d sing from time to time, but so do most of the Muppets, making her rather pointless.

The Babies

The Babies, not the Muppet Babies, are essentially just babies in Muppet form. However, making babies out of felt leads to horrifying results. They’re so off-putting to look at even though they’re supposed to look cute. They’ve been in Muppets content for decades with many appearances, and they’re usually just annoying. They definitely have some funny moments here and there, like when they sang “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and when they annoyed Fozzie when he was trying to conduct an interview, but they’re mostly just obnoxious and unsettling.
