Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been receiving plenty of astounding DLC. For just $25, gamers get 6 waves worth of courses, with most returning Mario Kart courses while some have been brand new. Even some characters are returning from previous Mario Karts for the DLC. The DLC almost feels like a full Mario Kart game in itself. It makes one wonder why other games haven’t been getting the same treatment. One game in particular that needs it is Mario Party Superstars.
Mario Party Superstars is a collection of fan-favorite boards and minigames from Mario Party’s long history. It’s extremely fun for long-time fans and newcomers alike as they compete with their friends to earn the most stars. That being said, there’s only five boards in the game. With there being multiple Mario Party games on every Nintendo console since the original was released on the Nintendo 64, all of which with several boards, there could easily be more in Mario Party Superstars. They have tons of classics to choose from. More boards is important since the boards themselves all add something unique that shakes up the gameplay.

There are one hundred minigames in Mario Party Superstars, but there are still quite a lot of great ones that are left out. The game’s advertising claimed that it would include the 9ne hundred best mini games from the series, but there are some gems missing while a couple luck-based stinkers got through. If Mario Party Superstars received the same DLC treatment that Mario Kart is getting, there could be so many more boards and mini games added over time. It would celebrate the series’ history while also providing hours of fun for the fans.
While this latest Mario Party is an extremely fun game and nostalgic collection, it could still feel more full. If it were to receive waves of DLC, boards and minigames from the past, as well as brand new ones, could enhance the chaotic fun. On top of that, Mario Party Superstars has unlockable cosmetics like stickers, profile banners, music, and more. Any DLC could absolutely add more of these as well.
If it were to receive DLC, then more characters should probably be added like they were in the Mario Kart DLC. There are currently ten playable characters in the game, which is definitely enough for a four-player match. That being said, the absence of fan-favorites like Dry Bones and Boo is definitely felt. Any DLC would provide the opportunity for past characters to return.

This hopeful DLC could all be for a future Mario Party game if it doesn’t happen for Superstars. It just needs to happen at some point in the series. Superstars would be perfect for it, though, since it’s meant to be a celebration of the series in the form of a collection of classic content.
The waves of DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been one of the best things Nintendo could have done for fans of that series. It’s about time that Mario Party fans receive that same type of treatment and level of love.
