Whether it be in the theatrically released movie, animated series, TV specials, or video games, Nickelodeon’s Jimmy Neutron has created a vast number of inventions. While they’re all imaginative, impressive, and overall awesome, most of them backfire and cause more harm than good. However, there are still plenty that turn out to be quite handy. Here are just some of the Nicktoon icon’s greatest inventions ranked by their usefulness.
8) DNA Regenerator
DNA Regenerator was never really seen to be useful for Jimmy or his friends since it was stolen by King Goobot. That being said, Goobot and the other Yolkians use it to successfully bring back their kaiju chicken god, Poultra, back to life. This gadget can resurrect dead creatures without any sort of Monkey’s Paw or Pet Sematary rules taking place. It’s not known what effect it would have on humans, but dead plants or animals can be brought back with no issue, which is pretty tremendous.
7) Maximum Headband
When Jimmy and his dad sign up to compete in the Parent-Child Picnic Games, Jimmy invents the Maximum Headband to scientifically bring his dad’s performance levels up past human standards. This makes sense given that Hugh is a klutz. Hugh becomes stronger, faster, and infinitely less clumsy. He essentially becomes an Olympic-level athlete. This headband is one of the few inventions that doesn’t really have a drawback. Jimmy and Hugh are disqualified for cheating, but think of how useful this could be for helping people in the community.
6) SlumberTron 9000
Jimmy invented the SlumberTron 9000 to have the best sleepover experience possible. It’s able to fluff pillows to perfection for pillow fights, bake pizzas, and tell the spookiest of ghost stories. Things go very awry when Carl presses all the buttons at once, but if he didn’t, this thing would create a tremendous entertainment experience. Its ability to spawn pizza could probably end world hunger if they wanted it to. It does create a terrifying pizza monster, but that’s proof that it technically creates life as well.
5) N-Men Packets
When Jimmy and his friends are flying through space, they pass through the Van Patten Radiation Belt, which gives them superpowers (similar to the origin of the Fantastic Four). Cindy gains super strength, Sheen gains super speed, Libby obtains the power of invisibility, Carl gets the power of super burps, and Jimmy essentially becomes the Incredible Hulk. This may not have been an invention of Jimmy’s, but he does create packets that allow them to regain these super powers in a later episode. They may mix the packets up, but they do regain superpowers that they use to take down a team of their most evil foes. One would think they would use these packets whenever there are villains putting their town in danger.
4) Jetpack
A large amount of Jimmy’s inventions are transportation-based, but most of them are rather pointless since he’s already made a jetpack. It’s no different from jetpacks seen in any other work of science fiction, but it’s still extremely useful. This gadget allows Jimmy to fly anywhere he wants at a relatively quick speed. There’s no need for bikes or cars when you can fly via jetpack to your destination.
3) Chrono Arch
Jimmy’s Chrono Arch allows him and his friends to travel into the future and back to the present. It’s unknown if it allows for traveling back to the past, but it’s still rather impressive. Unlike other time traveling devices that Jimmy has invented, this one allows the user to see glimpses of possible futures as well. Jimmy could use this to see possible outcomes for various inventions and experiments and stop them from going wrong (as they almost always do). He could know what dangers are coming to know what sort of devices to make in preparation or which ones to avoid building if it’ll put Retroville in harm’s way.
2) Strato XL
The Strato XL is the small rocket that Jimmy makes out of an amusement park ride in the original Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius movie that he uses as his primary mode of space travel throughout the Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius animated series. It’s pretty impressive that a functioning rocket ship could be made out of an amusement park ride, but it’s also handy for whenever Jimmy needs to get to alien planets to stop villainous plots. It also somehow allows Jimmy and his friends to breathe in outer space, which may be the most impressive thing about it.
1) Goddard
Not only is Goddard Jimmy Neutron’s greatest invention, he’s also a loyal best friend and one of the best things about the series. He’s an adorable canine companion while being smarter than the average dog. Plus, he has a seemingly unlimited supply of gadgets built into him. He can fly, carry objects inside his body, record audio, fire laser beams, extinguish fires, extend and retract his neck and legs, and perform a slew of other plot-convenient functions. His “play dead” feature allows him to explode and reform himself as if he was never harmed. He has infinite abilities and is one of the best friends a boy genius could ask for. Goddard is clearly Jimmy’s most useful invention.
