Seth McFarlane’s science fiction comedy series The Orville has won over fans everywhere with its heart, brilliant commentary, approach to important themes, fantastic science fiction ideas, and humor. As of right now, there are three seasons of The Orville for fans to rewatch or for newcomers to dive into, but the series has yet to be renewed for Season 4. It’s hard not to hold onto hope for at least one more season because there are a handful of questions that still need to be answered, which are listed below.
Spoilers for The Orville are ahead.
Will Ed and Kelly Get Back Together?
Ed and Kelly used to be married. Since being on the ship together, they’ve bonded and become close friends. They trust each other and always have each other’s backs on away missions. There have been hints here and there that their love may eventually be rekindled, like them holding hands during the Season 3 finale. Will the two actually get back together, or will they grow as friends who support each other? Moving past their former relationship could show a lot of growth, but love works in funny ways.

What’s Going to Happen With Ed’s Daughter?
It was revealed in Season 3 that Ed has a half-human/half-Krill daughter with Teleya. That daughter’s name is Anaya. Of course, the villainous Teleya is keeping Anaya on her planet away from Ed and any humans. With Teleya being arrested by the Union and Ed not having a way to get to Krill, what’s going to happen to Anaya? Will there be some sort of rescue mission for her now? Will she be the fill-in ruler for the planet? Either could open the door for some intriguing stories.
Will John and Talla’s Romance Be Revisited?
Season 3 also teased audiences with a romance between Chief Engineer John Lamarr and Chief Security Officer Tall Keyali. This is an onscreen romance that could work really well. However, we only see this for two or three episodes. Talla’s Xelayan strength causes John to be injured during intercourse, resulting in them seemingly calling it quits. Not only is it a bummer to see nothing come of it, but it also makes it all feel like it was pointless. It would be interesting to see them try to find ways to make their relationship work. It could be a fun subplot. Perhaps they could create some sort of exoskeleton for John to wear during or have Dr. Finn cook something up. As of right now, it feels like a waste, but it won’t if they revisit it in the future.
What Will Come of the Alliance Between the Krill and the Moclan?
The last we saw of the two species, the Krill and the Moclan, they joined forces to battle the Union and the Kaylon. They clearly don’t like each other, so will they be sticking to their deal? If not, will they go to war with each other? If they do stick together, how will the Union take them down? Either way, more of them together could be interesting. For one, the Moclans’ weapons with the Krill’s strategy is a deadly combination. Second, they bicker like The Odd Couple, which is just plain hilarious.

What’s Going on With Dinal?
Dinal is a Kandarian, a species who has aged and progressed much more rapidly than the rest of the known universe. Because of this, they’re seemingly omnipotent and essentially immortal. Because they cannot die, Dinal runs secretive tests on the Orville crew to research death and fear. What else will she do in the future for this research? Can the Kandarians just sort of stop all the war that’s happening in the universe? Once Dinal is satisfied with her research, what then? Dinal is clearly meant to be the “Q” of this series, so there will likely be plenty of shenanigans involving her if the show is renewed.

What Will Lysella Do on the Ship?
Lysella comes from a planet that is about as technologically advanced as modern day Earth in the real world. This means that they’re centuries behind Earth in The Orville. She wanted to take some of the futuristic space tech to her planet, but after Kelly convinces her not to interfere with the planet’s natural evolution, Lysella stays aboard the Orville. Will she be given a job on the ship or just be taken to Earth? If she were to remain a member of the Orville’s crew, wouldn’t she need to go through Union training and rise through the ranks? All that being said, having a character stick around who needs all this tech introduced and explained to them may prove useful for storytelling and exposition.
